Back to the path of virtue after an extended bout of gastroenteritis over the weekend, been subsisting on lucozade and white plastic bread for the past few days so it’s something of a relief to return something a little less bland. Today also marked the first time that I’d given my brand new bells and whistles pedometer a shot, I’m hoping it’ll prove to be an asset in spurring me on to get off my arse and move about.
Breakfast consisted of a porridge made with soya milk and sprinkled with pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, a smattering of dried coconut, a couple of dried cranberries and an almond or two washed down with a cup of black coffee.
I didn’t bother with a mid-morning snack as the porridge was sitting in my belly like a big oaty brick. Lunch was a rather sad looking green salad with prawn mayo from the canteen as I wasn’t organised enough to make something last night. I also had a cup of their lentil soup which could have been a mistake given the state of my digestive system over the last few days but seems to be ok.
I had an Asda cereal bar with cranberry and apple (70cals) at about 2.30pm then a nice juicy granny smith just before 5 which was slightly spoilt by a tiny cut my mouth that took exception to the acid bath it was getting by stinging like billy-o.
Got the number 13 bus which stops at the far end of the road and gave me the opportunity to up my step count and get my heart rate up a bit. There was something of a chill in the air which only heightened my resolve to get in to the cosy flat and along the road.
Step count for today: 6291; Cals burned 364; Distance covered 2.51km
Got right in and made my dinner. Started with a salad of watercress, baby plum tomatoes, spring onions and artichoke hearts dressed with marks and spencer honey and mustard dressing and a sprinkling of seeds.
Main course was tinned mackerel in tomato sauce with Bulgar wheat and masses of greens drizzled with sweet chilli sauce and peppermint tea.
